INTERTRIBAL DATING

Two people of different tribes who originate from the same geographical location can share more than can two people of the same tribe who originate from different locations. This can be seen when we talk about a personality. We can always interpret and even make a prognosis of the values of the person basing on the analysis of the surroundings. No matter what part of a country a person lives in and no matter what tribe he is – he will still be the reflection of the geographical area his lives in and carry the values that are widespread in this area. It is common knowledge that the key factor of the development of personality is socialization and the place of socialization plays a vital part too. Socialization in also very important in intertribal dating and of course the geographical location predestines the set of qualities which one will look in a partner along with the stereotypes concerning this or the tribe.

The way people of different tribes interact with one another is truly affected by Geographical location. One of the brightest example is Luos and Borana. A young Borana woman from the North Eastern of the country Kenya and a young man from Nyanza will have a lot of difficulties getting along together, due to the climatic conditions in North Eastern and the savvier terror attacks. In North Eastern, most parts is not barer able for the well doing of crops due to the climate there .Also the cultural differences. For instance if two young people come out from the same geographical location which is a multi-cultural area they are less likely to have any kind of problems dating each other. People identify themselves with their environment and two people coming from the same geographical location who are dating each other will have at least the same concept of a relationship, which is set in their area.

If an intertribal couple has a different geographical location it raises the possibility that each of them lives in a one-tribe community making it even harder for them to communicate within their communities: they potentially have different interests and feel uneasy coming to visit each other. For example one tribe community sees a woman as a housekeeper and a mother, while the other views a woman being equal to a man. In one community is normal to greet the neighbors while the other is more isolated. It also creates the difficulty to raise a bi-tribal child in that the language the child will speak, the culture he or she will follow, and the environment he or she will cop up in. While living in one geographical location makes people closer to each other because their unity is acceptable in the first place as it is a multi-tribal community.

A couple from originating from the same geographical location can share much more than the same the home address. Intertribal dating can be brought about by different factors such as trading, like in big cities, work places, universities like in Moi University, and many more. This also creates unity and some people learn other cultures from different tribes as they interact with each other. This creates unity among people of different tribes hence making tribal dating easy and without any problems. Basically saying a couple originating from the same geographical location has the same “community anthem”: they went to similar school, had the same interests popular in the area, and had the same inter-tribal and inter-gender examples. It honestly does make the couple feel more comfortable and gives a lot to share with each other, including the same intertribal values. If you wish to have good relationship with your partner from different tribe, learn their culture and values.

WORLD GONE WILD

What can we say about the current situations in the world? Should we call it madness or Satan taking control? The weird things happening are very shocking some even can't be uttered. The world is turning to unknown destination and the society at large.

Blood is no longer thicker as parents turn against their own kids. We hear of fathers raping their own daughters. Kids care less about their own parents. Some kids have ganged up with either the father or the mother and are now against maybe one of them. Some kids even fight their own parents .Some even kill them so that they can inherit or even sell the wealth. This has greatly been contributed by alcohol consumption and other drugs. Some have gone to an extend of kicking their own parents out of their ancestral land.

Relatives are turning against their own relatives .We hear of young men raping their own grandmothers. Is this not madness? Others, due to their laziness, prefer robbing of their own relative's wealth. Relatives have become murderers of their own relatives. The young are now the lazy in the society and just waiting for the old to work tirelessly so that they can just get clean things. What a shame.

What can we say about those who have decided to take advantage of others disability? Some have gone to an extend of pretending to be having certain inability so that they can get some money or even rob others. Some snatch off what has been given to those with certain inability. There is no more pity or even care. We live the way we want, do things the way we like without fear.

In the past though there were some gang groups which were so inhuman, they were not as many as they are in the present. Today there are so many worldwide. So many people are joining them .It seems like it’s their joy as the kill thousands and thousands of innocent people. They enjoy seeing them being buried and their friends and relatives suffer in sorrow and pain. How can someone celebrate for killing another person? Isn’t that so inhuman? Is this not a generation turning against its generation?

We hear of a villager turning against the whole village and killing them. We also hear of friends going for parties but at the end they kill one of them. Teacher, who are expected to be role model to the children, raping their own students. Our today leaders are our tomorrow "destroyers”. They come begging for votes but once they get into their offices, they feed us with their dust as they drive their expensive vehicles. All our cries fall on deaf ears and their promises become like dust being blown by wind.

Crime against humanity is no longer terrifying story to most people .It has now become something obvious.

CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT

By:
Nyabalah Felix

Development and culture are two perspectives that always do conflict with each other, No development can take place when it disrespects a people's cultural practices while at the same time cultural practices must also give way to new development initiatives, however, with the increasing levels of development concern, these two aspects in light of development have been related using facts and opinions that do try to compare the two to go hand in hand.
Several research studies have been done to analyze the factors that determine the rate of development in a country including the Gross Domestic Product, Net National Product, political stability, peace and stability and an enabling environment for investments with good government support to the investors leaving behind an exemplary explanation on what culture has to do with development.
Regardless of the early ventures into this area by several development agencies which have tried to both theorize the concept of development and culture as two independent variables; it is important to understand that these two factors go hand in hand with an influence on each other. Therefore in order to get to understand what culture has to do with development, it is important to get to explain and understand what culture really is in regard to development and how these two concepts correlate while at the same time not leaving behind the aspects of culture that are pro-development and development aspects that are undermined by culture.
With the prior explanation accorded to development by UNESCO as an attempt to get to increase the human choosing variety, development goes beyond just economic and political advancement but tries to get deep into human psychographic development and the sociocultural advancement with an eye to aid the full and certified coexistence of humanity which shouldn't base itself on everyday discontent on what nature has to provide and a continued rush for the limited resources but in the broadest sense try to get to advance and civilize the human culture in support to development initiatives.
In trying to get to understand what role has to play in development, it is important to recognize the role played by UNESCO in her attempt to bring to the attention what culture has to do with the development which has been increasingly researched on by other international organizations including UNHCHR and UNDP which has both based their explanation on human rights to freely exercise their cultures while at the same time explaining the influence cultural diversity and cultural freedom practice on development.
The culture influence on development is a very including factor which gets a diversity of support from other fields of science including sociology anthropology and even political science. The cultural practices of a people is a real determinant on whether a people will get to support any development agenda set out by a development agency. The concept of development in the broadest sense deals with human beings in totality. It tries to explain the general welfare of the citizens in a country and takes into account the cultural and psychological aspects of human beings. It typically involves rapid changes in the cultural institutions and Administrative structures in the society. Not any development program can get the full support of people if it doesn't get to respect a people's culture.
People's cultural practices including the practice of extended families, polygamy in most parts of the third world countries is a major setback to development, much money which could have been used in development planning are used in the provision of basic needs for the people rather than in development. Polygamy as a cultural practice leads to high number of births which in the long run stresses the development planner on how to plan for development programs as much capital is used in the provision of basic health care services.
Some of the development objectives and incentives have received serious criticism from most cultures. This has been due to their disagreement with the local institutions in place including the religious groups. For any development program to succeed, the development planner must get to include the full participation of the target audience so as to gain their support. Development however has been seriously undermined by unenabling factors such as religious setbacks in the Arab nations where there is an abomination of the free mixing of men and women to get to share development ideas hence delaying the development process.
If development has to take course, the development agency must remember to assess the audience for which the information is meant, this include getting to understand their culture and their level of understanding by carrying out Practice Rapid Appraisal and a Knowledge Attitude Practice analysis to get to understand their attitude to support or reject a development project or incentive. This can be done by encouraging grassroot participation of the target groups to enable them have a sense of acceptance to the development ideas as they are the participants in their formulation. The target groups are allowed to participate in problem identification and basic problem analysis in the society. This will in the broadest sense eliminate the feeling of cultural imperialism by these development ideas posed bya the people by the development ideas as they are involved in the formulation of the agendas for development.
Development depends on the amount of information provided on the development idea. For this reason, the developer should put in place enough information on what the expected results of the initiative and the baseline of behavior practice of the audience and the expected behavior change all which should be in harmony with the people's culture. The developer should put in place enough resources to help facilitate the project and how he expects to accomplish the project.
Once the communicator has fully put into consideration the people's culture it is true that the people will get to support these ideas. While at the same time there are some development agendas that conflict culture, the communicator should recognize this and look for better ways to get to convince the people to accept the development objectives.
